In a historic achievement for Mongolian sports, Mungunshagai Enkhbold has become the first-ever recipient of the prestigious Master of Sports of International Class title in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). The 32-year-old earned this honorary title after securing a gold medal at the 2024 Asian MMA Championships, held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Mr. Mungunshagai was presented with the Badge and ID card for this sports title by Mr. Dashdavaa Gantumur, General Secretary of the Mongolian Mixed Martial Arts Federation (MMMAF). During the ceremony, Mr. Dashdavaa congratulated Mr. Mungunshagai on his outstanding achievement and wished him success in his future competitions.

This milestone follows the accreditation of MMA as an official sport by Mongolia’s State Committee for Physical Education and Sport in May 2024. Since then, Mongolian MMA athletes have been eligible to receive official sports titles and degrees, marking a significant step forward in the development of MMA in the country. Mr. Mungunshagai’s success not only reflects his dedication and skill but also highlights the growing prominence of MMA in Mongolia. His achievement will undoubtedly inspire future generations of athletes to pursue excellence in the sport.
