The Mongolian Mixed Martial Arts Federation (MMMAF) hosted the 3rd Mongolian National Youth and Senior MMA Championships in Ulaanbaatar from May 16 to May 18 and saw the participation of more than 200 MMA athletes from around the nation.

The event, which went down into the history books as a milestone moment for Mixed Martial Arts in Mongolia, underlined the growth of the sport in the country as the participation numbers broke the records which were set in previous years. 

The athletes that competed at the championships came from 20 organizations across the nation and were honoured with Mongolia’s prestigious sports titles for the first time.

It was decided by the State Committee for Physical Education and Sport, the highest decision-making authority in Mongolia’s sports sector, that MMA fighters and referees are eligible to receive prestigious sports titles such as Master of Sports of Mongolia and Master of International Class. 

This decision benefited the fighters at the national championships and is expected to motivate future athletes to pursue MMA as a career. 

“We are confident that this development will serve as a catalyst for Mongolian MMA fighters to refine their skills and attain greater success. Furthermore, we anticipate that it will inspire Mongolian children and youth to engage in the practice of MMA,” Mr. Gantumur Dashdavaa, General Secretary of the MMMAF noted.  The national championships in Mongolia concluded ahead of a busy spell for IMMAF which will see the organization hosting the IMMAF Youth World Championships in Abu Dhabi, IMMAF Asian Championships in Pakistan and the IMMAF World Championships in Uzbekistan in the coming months.
