1. Opening of the Assembly
The first General Assembly of the Mongolian Mixed Martial Arts Federation (MMMAF) was officially convened on May 1, 2020, at the Central Sports Palace Meeting Room in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The meeting was called to order at 10:00 AM by Interim Chairperson Mr. Dashdavaa Gantumur, who welcomed all attendees, including athletes, coaches, officials, and key stakeholders.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Dashdavaa Gantumur emphasized the importance of this assembly as a historic milestone in the growth of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) in Mongolia. He highlighted the federation’s mission to govern and develop MMA in Mongolia in accordance with international standards, particularly those set by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF).
The interim chairperson also acknowledged the efforts of everyone involved in forming the federation and expressed his confidence that MMMAF will play a vital role in promoting Mongolian fighters on the global stage.
2. Approval of the Agenda
The proposed agenda was presented to the assembly. After minor modifications and discussions, it was unanimously approved by all attendees.
3. Presidential Election
One of the most significant items on the agenda was the election of the first President of MMMAF. After a formal voting process, the assembly elected:
Mr. GANKHUYAG Pantii as the President of the Mongolian Mixed Martial Arts Federation.
In his acceptance speech, President GANKHUYAG Pantii expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him. He outlined his vision for the federation, emphasizing the need to:
- Develop MMA in Mongolia at all levels, from grassroots to elite competition.
- Work closely with IMMAF to ensure the highest standards in governance, athlete safety, and competition regulations.
- Promote Mongolian fighters internationally and establish Mongolia as a competitive force in global MMA.
- Ensure financial stability through sponsorships, government support, and partnerships.
4. Election of the Board Members
Following the election of the President, the assembly proceeded with the election of the Board of Directors. The following individuals were elected:
- Bukhbat Mashbat
- Yalalt Nergui
- Dorjkhand Tuvshinjargal
- Dashdavaa Gantumur
- Battsetseg Tsogtoo
Each elected board member expressed their commitment to supporting the growth of MMA in Mongolia and ensuring the federation’s adherence to IMMAF guidelines and best practices.
5. Strategic Plan Discussion
The assembly engaged in an in-depth discussion regarding the strategic direction of MMMAF, focusing on:
- Athlete Development: Implementing structured training and ranking systems for amateur and professional fighters based on IMMAF standards.
- Coaching and Officiating Programs: Establishing a certification system for coaches, referees, and judges in accordance with IMMAF regulations.
- Regulatory and Governance Framework: Developing rules, policies, and safety protocols to ensure professional and fair competition.
- Grassroots Development: Creating programs to introduce MMA at the youth level and expand the sport across Mongolia.
- International Recognition: Strengthening relationships with IMMAF and other national federations to secure Mongolia’s place in global MMA competitions.
The assembly agreed unanimously that MMMAF must work closely with IMMAF to align with its global vision and gain official recognition as Mongolia’s national governing body for MMA.
6. Reports and Updates
The General Assembly received reports on:
- The current state of MMA in Mongolia, including the number of active fighters, gyms, and competitions.
- Challenges faced by athletes, such as access to quality training, financial support, and international exposure.
- Progress in establishing MMMAF, including registration, governance structure, and outreach efforts.
- Discussions with IMMAF regarding recognition and collaboration.
7. Competitions and Events
The assembly reviewed the competition calendar for the upcoming year, focusing on:
- Hosting the first official National MMA Championship under MMMAF governance, following IMMAF rules.
- Organizing regional tournaments to identify and develop top MMA talent.
- Preparing Mongolian fighters for IMMAF World Championships and Asian Championships.
- Exploring partnerships with international MMA organizations to bring high-level events to Mongolia.
The board agreed to establish a Competition Committee to oversee the organization and sanctioning of all national and regional MMA events.
8. Financial and Budgetary Approval
A financial overview was presented, detailing the budget plan for MMMAF’s first operational year. The key budgetary allocations included:
- Athlete Development Programs
- Competition Organization and Sanctioning
- Coaching and Officiating Certification Programs
- Administrative and Operational Costs
- Marketing and Promotion of MMA in Mongolia
The budget was unanimously approved, with a commitment to seek sponsorships and government support for sustainable funding.
9. Elections and Additional Appointments
In addition to electing the President and Board Members, the assembly discussed key operational roles, including:
- Technical Committees (Competition Rules & Regulations, Athlete Welfare, Coaching & Officiating Development).
- Administrative and Communications Teams.
- Finance and Sponsorship Committee.
It was agreed that these appointments would be finalized at the next executive meeting.
10. IMMAF Recognition and Future Collaboration
A special session was dedicated to discussing MMMAF’s application for membership with the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF).
The assembly agreed that MMMAF will actively pursue official IMMAF recognition, which will:
- Enable Mongolian athletes to compete in IMMAF world and continental championships.
- Establish a standardized national ranking system.
- Provide access to IMMAF’s coaching, officiating, and governance resources.
- Strengthen Mongolia’s position in the global MMA community.
It was emphasized that MMMAF will adhere to IMMAF’s policies on anti-doping, athlete safety, and governance to ensure full compliance with international standards.
11. Closing Remarks
Newly elected President GANKHUYAG Pantii delivered closing remarks, expressing gratitude to all attendees for their dedication and commitment to the development of MMA in Mongolia.
He emphasized:
- The importance of unity within the Mongolian MMA community.
- The need to develop a strong and transparent governance system.
- The goal of positioning Mongolia as a dominant force in international MMA.
The Interim Chairperson, Mr. Dashdavaa Gantumur, also expressed his appreciation to all participants and officially declared the meeting adjourned at 04:00 PM.
